Volunteering Leads a Fulfilled Life

I have already volunteered two years in King Car Foundation- Hsinchu Camp, a non-profit organization which devotes time to improve the English abilities of children in countryside. Children in countryside have fewer educational resources than those in cities. Volunteers in King Car Foundation try to bridge the gap in their knowledge of English and science by holding English camps for children in countryside. During camps, children learn English through playing games. My job is to design games involving science knowledge in English and act as their teacher with my partners. Every time I finish my job, I feel that volunteering makes not only ourselves but also those given help by us feel blessed. Learning from the process of volunteering, making friends when being a volunteer, and the satisfaction of helping others can enrich our lives.

There are several kinds of volunteers, and no matter being which kind of volunteer, we can learn much while doing volunteer works. There are people volunteer their time helping people in Cambodia fix their houses and pave their roads. They not only learn the skills of repairing houses and surfacing roads but also know to cherish their lives when they see how poor people in Cambodia are. Also, anther kind of volunteer does recycling and clean roads. They can know the correct concept of eco-awareness while recycling. Different volunteer works need distinct skills. Volunteers do and learn at the same time. I have learned how to cooperate with others and how to design textbook from my volunteer works. Both of the skills are useful, and I deeply appreciate that King Car Foundation gives me the chance to learn them. It is worthy to spend so much time on volunteering because we can learn so many things during doing it.

Making friends is another amazing experience while volunteering. People who are willing to volunteer their time are always friendly and kind. They are willing to help others because of their friendliness and kindness. This kind of people is easygoing and open-minded. It is easy to make friends and cooperate with them. Taking myself as example, I have made many fantastic friends in King Car Foundation. Ting is one of them who has sense of humor and likes to share with other her treats. She always makes us laugh by telling jokes and invites us to go to have meals with her. She is also passionate and has great patient. She is always energetic and can explain what others do not understand clearly step by step. It is quite lucky to know her because of volunteering. It is hard to make such a good friend in our lifetimes and I get the chance to know her because of volunteering.

Apart from learning and making friends during volunteering, the other advantage of volunteering is getting satisfaction by helping others. Volunteer works are always to help people who are in need. When we help them, they usually deeply appreciate our kindness and give us big smiles. This sense of satisfaction leads our motivation to help more people. When I taught children some new and interesting knowledge, they would smile broadly and urged me to teach them something more fascinating. Every time I saw their smile, I would think that it is worthy to stay up late to design and figure out these new games and ideas for them. If there are more people volunteer their time, more people will smile because they get help from others. Everyone will be happier, and our world will become a better place. Volunteering is worth spending time on it.

Learning from the process of doing volunteer works, making friends during volunteering, and sense of satisfaction of helping others make our lives substantial. Volunteering not only benefit ourselves but also gives others better lives. Everyone will find fulfillment in working in charities and volunteer their time.
